301 (Permanent) Redirects

A 301 redirect allows you to permanently redirect traffic, canonicalization, and authority to a specific URL from a specific URL or set of URLs using a 301 redirect rule. Use 301’s to redirect these from pages that are either deleted or duplicated, where the user does not need to see a specific URL.

Further, a 301 redirect is actually a header response code. Header response codes tell your web browser what to do when you enter a URL into your browser’s address bar or click on a link.
